STOUGHTON, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Strong winds made it challenging for fire crews in Stoughton to fight a fire at a home on Prospect Street Monday.
The fire, which was reported shortly after 4 p.m., raged through the first and second floor of the home.
Michael Laracy, the Stoughton Fire Chief, says that he ordered his crews out of the home because the wind was whipping the fire around so much.
“It was just a wind-driven fire right from the front to back… it was a challenge,” he said. “We had to pull everybody out of the building, it was just unsafe for our firefighters.”
Laracy said seven people were inside when the fire broke out; six adults and one child. Everyone made it out safely.
Crews were able to keep the fire contained, and it did not spread to other homes. Officials have not released a cause of the fire.
