Shooting At Methuen Party Leaves Man Fighting For Life

METHUEN (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man is hospitalized after being shot at a party that apparently got out of hand in Methuen.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. at a store in the area of Broadway and Oakland Avenue that sells hookahs and hookah supplies.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was found lying in the road outside the shop with a gunshot wound.

"It appears that there was a party going on, and something erupted at the party," Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon told WBZ-TV. "There was a shooting, and then there was a second shooting. We're not sure at this point if the second subject who was shooting was in defense of anyone or was something else, so that's what the investigation's gonna do."

The man was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, and then airlifted to a hospital in Boston. His injuries were considered life-threatening, police said.

Officials are telling the public to stay away from the area, but said the community is not in any danger. They don't believe the shooting was a random act.

Officers were still at the scene later Friday morning, seen walking around with flashlights. Massachusetts State Police were also at the scene with K9 units.
