All Lanes Reopened After Cement Truck Overturns On Tobin Bridge Ramp

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Almost nine hours after a cement truck overturned on the Tobin Bridge loop ramp and snared traffic into the city, Massachusetts State Police said that all lanes were opened and the scene was clear.

The crash happened right at the split leading to Storrow and Rte. 93 around 5 a.m., leaving the truck driver with minor injuries.

State Police decided the truck would be removed after the morning commute, because moving it during the commute would only have caused more disruption.

The ramp alternated between closure and having one lane open throughout the day, as crews worked to upright the truck.

WBZ NewsRadio's Shari Small, near the scene, reported that surface streets leading up to the Tobin Bridge were backed up, some up to a mile.
