WESTWOOD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Xaverian Brothers High School Baseball Head Coach Gerald Lambert is on leave after a physical altercation between a student athlete, school officials announced Thursday.

The altercation happened at the school’s home varsity baseball game against St. John’s Preparatory school Wednesday around 4 p.m. according to the game schedule.

“We do not condone aggressive behavior by any member of our school community,” said Brother Daniel Skala, headmaster of the school through a release.

“We are cooperating with the local authorities,” he said.

Lambert, a baseball and golf coach, is also a long-time mathematics department chair and alumni of the private Catholic all-boy college preparatory high school.

It was not immediately clear what initiated the altercation.
