NightSide with Dan Rea – Rundown for April 12, 2019

New York Democrats have blocked a bill to give gold star families help with tuition but passed a similar bill for illegal aliens. A bill that would make attending a state college or university free for the children of service members who died while performing their official duties was blocked in the New York legislature. A week earlier they approved a state budget that set aside $27 million in college tuition aid for illegal immigrants. Is it right that veterans' families don't rate the same consideration as illegal aliens?

New Hampshire sends an execution ban to the Governor for his signature. Both the New Hampshire Senate and House have voted with a veto-proof majority to repeal the state's death penalty. It now goes to the desk of Gov. Chris Sununu who is against the bill. There is only one death-row inmate in the state, Michael Addison, who was sentenced to death for killing a Manchester police officer in 2006. Is the Granite State making a mistake?

Stop and Shop is on strike and Senator Liz Warren is on the picket line. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, complete with doughnuts and a bull horn joined dozens of striking workers today outside a Stop & Shop as the strike against New England’s largest supermarket chain officially got under way. Do you think the good senator is really on the side of the union or is she concerned her poll numbers are slipping in the cacophony of the myriad of democratic candidates running for president?
