NORTH SHIRLEY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A little boy couldn't wait to be born Saturday morning.

The Shirley Fire Department says they responded to a call for a woman in labor on Crabtree lane in North Shirley at about 3 a.m.

The mother was loaded into an ambulance for transportation to the hospital, but the baby had other plans.

Shirley Fire Captain Troy Cooley and Fire Fighter Michael Whittier helped to deliver a healthy baby boy while on Center Road.

Mom and baby finally arrived at the hospital after the birth and are both resting comfortably.
