BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A juvenile who was slated to appear before a judge was seriously injured after they leaped from the fourth floor of Boston District Court indoor balcony Monday according to authorities.
A spokesperson from Massachusetts State Police say that the incident happened around 10:50 a.m. when the unidentified juvenile apparently jumped from a balcony facing an inner atrium down to the first floor.
He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where he is in stable condition.
Authorities say the the juvenile been arrested for an alleged domestic assault and is being prosecuted in juvenile court.
And while it was not immediately not clear if he was attempting to escape or trying to hurt himself police say he was not in police custody at the time of the incident.
“He was not in police custody, but rather, had been released following his arrest and came to court on his own,” officials said.
Massachusetts State Police is investigating.
