MEDFORD, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Behind Brooks Elementary on Allston Street in Medford are seven floating white blocks.
From far away, it look like those blocks could be an issue to anyone traveling on that road. In reality It’s actually a 3D crosswalk — meant to get drivers’ attention and get them to slow down.
While the blocks are fake, but the reactions are real.
A local artist painted the 3D crosswalk that looks to have the same effect as a speed bump and without the construction.
Two fifth graders came up with the idea after one of their brothers almost got hit by a car.
The plan is to paint crosswalks similar to this at more schools.
