NightSide with Dan Rea – Rundown for May 1, 2019

Attorney General William Barr Holds His Ground During Senate Hearing On Mueller Report. Attorney General William Barr clashed with Senate Democrats today in his first appearance on Capitol Hill since the release of the special counsel's Russia report, insisting that 'it was my decision how and when to make it public, not Bob Mueller's.' Mueller wrote a letter complaining to Barr that a four-page memo to Congress describing the principal conclusions of the investigation into President Trump “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of Mueller’s work. The Senate Judiciary Committee today scrutinized those complaints as a possible prelude to impeachment proceedings while the House Judiciary Committee is threatening to subpoena Barr if he refuses to testify at their hearing as well. Dan wants to know who you think made the better showing....

Are the democrats going over the cliff with calls for impeachment? Seven in 10 Democrats want Congress to begin impeachment hearings based on the findings in Mueller's report, but just 39% of Americans overall think impeachment hearings are the correct next step. Will pushing impeachment proceedings alienate voters and lose the democrats the 2020 election?

ICE Arrests Continue at Massachusetts Court Houses. Two illegal immigrant gang members were seized by ICE agents inside two separate Suffolk County courts Monday while Suffolk Countey DA Rachael Rollins was filing a federal suit against the agency to keep them out of the courts. Rollins has instructed her prosecutors to tell her about any ICE agents in courthouses, and to tailor charges to avoid impacting a defendant’s immigration status. Whose side are you on?
