Man Fatally Struck By MBTA Commuter Train In Hanson

HANSON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —  MBTA Transit Police are investigating after a male pedestrian was fatally struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train in Hanson Wednesday.

Authorities say that the incident happened at the Hanson station on Main Street around 6:00 a.m., when he was struck by an inbound train on the Kingston/Plymouth Line.

The man was in the right of way of the train at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene according to MBTA Transit Police.

Route 27 is expected to be closed from Elm Street To Phillips St for several hours as authorities investigate.

The crash is causing several delays.

The MBTA tweeted that the Kingston Train 032 (5:30 am from Kingston) was terminated at Hanson due to police activity near the right of way in Hanson and that the 034 Train was delayed by 10-20 minutes.

MBTA Transit Police said detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident and that foul play was not suspected.
