Chara To Make Game-Time Decision For Game 5

2019 NHL Stanley Cup Final - Media Day

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — During the Bruins's Monday night's game against the St. Louis Blues, Zedno Chara suffered a broken jaw injury after taking a puck to the face.

Over the last few days, it's been debated if the defenseman and team captain could make it back on the ice for the rest of the Stanley Cup Final.

On Thursday morning, wearing a special helmet shielding his face, Chara made an appearance during practice.

Also at practice was fellow defenseman Matt Grzelcyk, with a no-contact red jersey. Grzelcyk was placed in concussion protocol after a head injury during Game 2.

Coach Bruce Cassidy said that if Grzelcyk will be able to play once he's cleared by the team doctor.

If he's not able to play tonight, likely Steven Kampfer could step in.

As for Chara, Cassidy said if he's also cleared it would become Chara's decision to play or not.

The Bruins will play St. Louis at 8 p.m.
