HYANNIS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Saoirse Kennedy Hill was found dead at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port. Police are investigating the death as a possible overdose. Kennedy Hill was the granddaughter of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy.

"Her life was filled with hope, promise and love. She lit up our lives with her love, her peals of laughter and her generous spirit," according to a statement released by the Kennedy family.

Kennedy Hill was a class of 2020 communication major at Boston College. In a letter to the BC community, Vice President for Student Affairs Joy Moore called Kennedy Hill a gifted student with many friends on campus.

"I ask you to keep Saoirse and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time," Moore wrote.

The Hyannis Fire Department told WBZ NewsRadio that emergency personnel were called to 28 Marchant Avenue around 2:31 p.m. Thursday.

Kennedy Hill was transported to a Cape Cod Hospital.

Barnstable Police and State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office are investigating the death.

The Kennedy Compound is a waterfront property with a number of homes on six acres in Hyannis. The property has been a home to the Kennedy Family and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
