Arrest Made In 'Cowardly' Ashmont Assault

ASHMONT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An arrest was made in what police are calling a "cowardly assault and robbery."

A man who uses a cane to walk was attacked by a large group Wednesday evening in Ashmont.

The victim, 60, was "viciously assaulted and robbed by several males after a verbal exchange," according to Transit Police. "The offending males ripped the cane from the victim's hand causing him to fall to the ground were he lay helplessly while being kicked, stomped and robbed."

Julius Tolbert, 47, of Hyde Park was arrested in connection to the assault. He allegedly kicked the victim and stomped on his ankle.

The police are still trying to locate the others involved.
