MARSHFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Former Vice President Joe Biden has tweeted his support of the Marshfield sanitation workers who have been on strike for two months.

This move follows Senator Bernie Sanders' support of the Teamsters 25 union earlier this month.

The union workers are striking against Republic Services, a solid waste collection company, as they try to negotiate a contract. They are asking for changes in wages and benefits.

The sanitation workers strike started after about two dozen sanitation workers walked off the job to negotiate a contract with the Teamsters 25 union. They are following the precedent set by the facilities in Quincy and Revere, who have contracts with the union.

Biden has supported local union workers before. In April, he stood with Stop & Shop workers.
