SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Hocus Pocus sequel is in the works after many prior attempts from Disney the past few years, according to Collider.

Comedian and actor Jen D’Angelo has been hired to write the second installment of the 1993 film which will be available on the streaming service Disney+.

Although the original starring trio comprised of Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy have not confirmed their involvement in the film, the studio says they hope the actors will be "involved in some capacity."

The original flick is considered a cult classic this time of year, despite not being a box office success. Made on a budget of $28 million 25 years ago, the movie only made $39 million worldwide, according to Variety.

During a previous attempt at a follow-up film in 2017, to be written by Scarlett Lacey, Bette Midler told People magazine the film is going "to be cheap!"

Still, it remains unconfirmed if the film will be a sequel, picking up where the last film ended for the witches, or if it will be a reboot of the original.
