LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Lynn welcomed its first recreational pot shop over the weekend.

Lynn Mayor Thomas McGee was among those at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Apothca Dispensary. He said it represents a nice source of revenue for the city.

“They anticipated, at least from what I’m hearing, is potentially $10 million sales in the first year, which would be close to $600,000 in revenue for the community,” McGee said.

Local residents say it’s about time.

“Hopefully, more stores open up and the competitive market really opens up so prices really become more affordable,” one man said.

This is Apothca’s first adult-use dispensary in the state, and it’s in the same space as its existing medical marijuana facility.
