BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A part of Summer Street in Boston's downtown was closed Saturday morning after a steam leak caused unknown debris to spray in the area.

Authorities said they suspect the debris to be asbestos, but are waiting for test results to confirm that.

The leak of the steam pipe began around 5:30 a.m. at 99 Summer St. The Boston Fire Department said the leak was stopped and the surrounding area was "contained."

Nearby roads are closed to traffic as crews work to clean up the hazard.

The Boston Globe reports that the portion of Summer Street that was closed will reopen Monday morning.
