Arrest Made In Death Of Woman Found Near Athol Wastewater Plant

ATHOL, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a Massachusetts man in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found near the entrance to a wastewater treatment plant.

A spokeswoman for the Northwestern district attorney says 23-year-old Keith Hamel is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge Tuesday in the death of Kelsey Clifford.

The 26-year-old Leominster woman's body was found in the early morning hours of Nov. 11 outside the entrance to the Athol Wastewater Treatment.

Hamel was arrested Monday and is being held without bail pending arraignment. Authorities did not disclose the relationship between the suspect and victim or the motive for the slaying.

It could not be determined if Hamel has an attorney.
