BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — After a three-day recount, Julia Mejia beat Alejandra St. Guillen by just one vote in the Boston City Councilor At-Large race Monday night.
Mejia came out with 22,492 votes, and St. Guillen had 22,491 votes after all 66,00 ballots were counted again.
Earlier Monday, St. Guillen had said she would consider a court challenge following the vote, but said Tuesday morning that she would not go forward with that challenge.
In a series of tweets, St. Guillen thanked her supporters and election officials, and congratulated Mejia.
St. Guillen first challenged the results from November's election when the two candidates were just eight votes apart.
Mejia is set to take office in January.
