‘Super Saturday’ Sees High Volume Of Holiday Shoppers

SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Stores, malls, and shopping centers are packed this weekend as many are trying to get in their last minute Christmas shopping.

The Saturday before Christmas, called 'Super Saturday' or 'Panic Saturday,' is expected to be the biggest shopping day of the year.

Reuters reports the day is expected to surpass Black Friday in sales, with expected customers expected to spend about $34 billion.

WBZ NewsRadio's Shari Small caught up with some shoppers at Somerville's Assembly Row who now trying to get it all done before the holiday.

"I got my girlfriend and my girlfriend's family done. That was a priority to me," one shopper said. "Now, I'm doing my own family."
