Nightside with Dan Rea - Rundown for January 6, 2020

The Brink of War. The entire Massachusetts congressional delegation is condemning President Trump’s assassination of Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani claiming it will lead to “troubling” consequences including putting the U.S. on the “brink of war” with Iran. Yesterday Iran announced it would no longer abide by the tenets of the 2015 nuclear deal and vowed to ramp up its nuclear program. Soleimani was killed in a U.S. airstrike Friday along with the head of the Iranian-backed Iraqi militia thought to be responsible for the killing of a U.S. contractor and the recent attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. The Pentagon says at the time of his death Soleimani was plotting more attacks. Did the President do the right thing?

Global Warming or Arson? Celebrities at last night's Golden Globe Awards took advantage of their microphones to blame the wildfires fires ravaging Australia on climate change despite the announcement from Australian police that arson and lightning strikes were the cause of the inferno. So far over 200 people have been arrested for deliberately setting fires. What do you think is responsible for the fires have caused at least 18 deaths, destroyed thousands of homes, and killed hundreds of millions of animals?
