Crossing Guard Struck In Danvers Sustains Serious Injuries

DANVERS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A crossing guard was struck by a driver near a crosswalk early Wednesday morning in Danvers.

The crossing guard, a woman Danvers Police said has worked for Danvers Public Schools for a long time, has serious injuries.

Police said she was struck around 7:05 a.m. at Poplar Street and Belgian Road, only a few blocks away from Holten Richmond Middle School. She was taken to Beverly Hospital.

The driver who struck the crossing guard stayed at the scene. There was no word yet on any possible charges.

Danvers and State Police are investigating.
