Banning Facial Recognition Technology. Cambridge, Massachusetts has become the fourth city in the Commonwealth to ban the municipal use of facial recognition technology. A bill before the State House would also establish a statewide moratorium on bio-metric surveillance until the legislature regulates the software. Proponents of the ban say privacy laws have not yet caught up with the technology and argue state and federal regulations regarding this type of surveillance do not even exist yet.
