The First U.S. Citizen Has Died From The Coronavirus

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A U.S. citizen diagnosed with the Coronavirus has died in Wuhan, China, according to a statement from the U.S. embassy in Beijing.

"We can confirm a 60-year old U.S. citizen diagnosed with Coronavirus died at Jinyintan Hospital in Wuhan, China on February 6," the statement said. "We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss. Out of respect for the family's privacy, we have no further comment."

This marks the first known American death from the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Chinese governmented offered its condolences for the death of "a Chinese-American."

On Friday China suffered its deadliest day yet from the Coronavirus with 86 new deaths, bringing the national number of deaths to 722.
