BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Ride-share app users in Boston now have the option to take a ride with their pet with the new Uber Pet.
The option is within in the Uber app, where riders can take along their furry friend for $6 extra.
"You select that option and the driver on the other end knows that you're bringing an animal with you," Uber's Harry Hartfield said.
The policy, according to Hartfield, applies to animals within reason, such as cats and dogs. Uber Pet allows for one animal.
Hartfield says some animals will always be welcome free of charge.
"Riders with service animals do not pay any extra service charge," Hartfield said. "This in no way impacts service animals whatsoever."
