BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Planning and Development Agency has approved a one-year pilot program that will provide seaplane service from Boston Harbor to New York City.
The planes will be operated by Cape Air. They will depart from Long Wharf, and then will take off and land at Logan Airport.
All planes must give boats the right of way, and they are not allowed to dock overnight or refuel in the harbor.
This comes after years of controversy. WBZ-TV reports that the planes were moved to Long Wharf after originally being proposed in the Seaport.
There will be four daily flights. Those will begin as soon as Cape Air is ready to depart.
