BOYLSTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Crews rescued four people that had fallen through the ice on Rocky Pond in Boylston Monday afternoon.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. with multiple fire departments and rescue crews responding.
WBZ-TV reports that a fisherman had fallen through the ice and three bystanders tried to rescue him, but then also fell through.
One person was taken to the hospital with hypothermia. The three other people were released after being treated at the scene, according to Boylston Fire.
The Boylston Fire Department they are "grateful for the rapid mutual aid response," and that they also "want to remind residents that the ice is not safe and people should stay off of it."
