Double Stabbing In Amesbury Leaves One Person Dead

AMESBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 65-year-old woman has died after she and her husband were both stabbed inside a house on Chester Street.

First responders were called to the home around 4 p.m. Saturday and found the couple inside with stab wounds.

The wife was flown to Boston Medical Center where she died of her injuries, her 65-year-old husband was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

He is reportedly now in recovery at a hospital in New Hampshire.

A spokesperson for Essex District Attorney said in a statement 27-year-old John Brittan of Amesbury has been arrested and charged with murder.

Brittan is expected to be arraigned in Newburyport District Court on Monday morning.

The DA's office, state and local police are investigating what happened.
