Tewksbury Students Told To Self-Quarantine After Italy Trip

TEWKSBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Students from Tewksbury Memorial High School are being told to self-quarantine after they were possibly exposed to someone with the coronavirus while returning home from a trip to Italy.

WBZ-TV reports the students were on the same flight as someone with a presumptive case of the virus. They had been in Europe for their February vacation.

All of the students and the staff that went on the trip were told to self-quarantine for two weeks, which will end on Saturday. They'll be allowed to return to school on Monday, March 9.

Earlier this week, Gov. Charlie Baker urged schools, universities, and colleges across the state to cancel any upcoming trips abroad.

"Taking this precaution will help protect both the students and the Commonwealth, as we are home to such a large number of colleges and universities," Gov. Baker said.
