BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two days after Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the Democratic race for president, she thanked her supporters in a cameo on Saturday Night Live.
SNL's cold-open featured cast member Kate McKinnon playing Fox News host Laura Ingraham. With Senator Warren as her faux-guest on The Ingraham Angle, McKinnon asked how Warren had been since dropping out of the race.
"You know, I'm doing just fine," Warren said. "My friends and family have been so supportive. They've been calling non-stop asking 'are you OK?' 'What do you need?' 'Were you electable?' That kind of thing."
McKinnon also raised the question of whether Warren would be endorsing any of the remaining candidates. Warren replied "Maybe I'll just pull a New York Times and endorse them both!" - poking fun at the newspaper for its split endorsement of both Warren and Senator Amy Klobuchar.
There were also several jabs at Warren's former debate-stage rival Mike Bloomberg. McKinnon said Warren had run a "memorable campaign, here's footage of you debating Mike Bloomberg," then played a clip of Warren's dog Bailey devouring a stolen burrito.
McKinnon also asked if Warren had any regrets. "Not at all.... not only did I not accept money from billionaires, I got to give one a swirly on live TV!" she said, a reference to her frequent attacks on Bloomberg during the most recent Democratic debates.
Warren said now she's out of the race, she has time to do some "self-care," which includes "hanging out with my dog Bailey, prank calling big banks, drag-racing Subaru's, avoiding twitter."
