Boston Offering Text Alerts To Give Coronavirus Updates

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The city of Boston is offering a new text alert service to help keep the public informed during the coronavirus pandemic.

To get the free alerts, you can text "BOSCOVID" to 99411.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced the news system during his public address about the coronavirus Tuesday night.

"We've been knocked down before, but we always get back up," Walsh said during the address. "With vigilance and patience, with empathy and love, we will get through this together."

Walsh also said that Boston is currently not at the point of needing a city-wide lockdown.
