BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) say that first responders are in need of more priority testing and protective gear as they work to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are in need and our reserves are diminishing. We do need to be ahead of that,” Mike Papagni, a Worcester firefighter and the public information officer for the PFFM, said.
However, Papagni said that firefighters across the state are currently working with the Department of Public Health and other agencies
“There’s no reason for the public to panic. We are continuing to provide every service they need while protecting our firefighters. And when necessary, we are quarantining and testing,” Papagni said.
The Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts organization represents 12,000 firefighters and EMTs across the state.
