BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Officials with Boston Calling announced on Tuesday that the music festival has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement, Boston Calling said the decision comes after "several weeks of consultation with local and state authorities."
"We are heartbroken; however, the health and safety of our audience, artists, and partners, vendors, first responders, and staff are of the utmost importance to us, and we felt that this was the only acceptable way forward," the statement said.
The festival was originally scheduled for the end of May. Among the acts supposed to play were Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Foo Fighters.
Ticket holders will be contacted in the coming weeks.
