Zac Efron Never Wants That Ripped 'Baywatch' Body Again: 'It's Stupid'

Zac Efron has never shied away from showing off his toned abs, especially on screen. In 2017's remake of Baywatch, Zac famously played the oft-shirtless lifeguard Matt Brody. The now 32-year-old actor has spoken candidly about the rigorous fitness regime he followed to get in shape for the role. In a recent episode of Hot Ones, Zac told host Sean Evans he doesn't think he'd ever want that super fit body back again.

When Sean asked Zac how he approaches movies like Baywatch, which require him to look a certain way, from a physical standpoint. Zac told Sean he actually learned something valuable about himself in the process of getting super fit for the role. “That was actually a really important time to do Baywatch, because I realized that when I was done with that movie, I don’t ever want to be in that good a shape again. Really,” he revealed.

“It was so hard," Zac continued. "You’re working with almost no wiggle room, right? You’ve got things like water under your skin that you’re worrying about, like making your six-pack into a four-pack. S*** like that, it’s just not – it’s just stupid.”

Despite the difficult, as well as his desire to not return to that lifestyle, Zac said he was still happy with the results at the time. “I’m happy that it worked, I’m happy that it got me through it. I may do it again if it was something worthwhile, but wait until it gets to that,” he added. “I don’t need to – I’m good. Take care of your heart, take care of your brain. You’re good.”
