Boston Police Officer Dies Due To Coronavirus

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police Officer Jose Fontanez died due to complications from COVID-19.

Instead of officers gathering by rank to salute Fontanez, due to social distancing the department has laid out a route where they can salute with their vehicles.

According to a statement from the police department, they are encouraging "any personnel who wish to pay their respects to Officer Fontenez to space accordingly with their blue lights activated."

The route begins on Albany Street, then continues until passing Jamaica Plain at Green Street.
