METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Friday, with lights flashing and sirens blaring, Methuen's first responders showed the city's healthcare workers a little love and appreciation from afar.
The so called "Thank You Parade" was made up of Methuen's firefighters, police officers, and employees from the Department of Public Works. The rolling-rally drove by various medical facilities to send thanks to local healthcare staff during the coronavirus pandemic.
"Every day, they take care of our community members suffering from COVID-19 and put their own safety at risk," MPD said in a statement on YouTube. "We appreciate their hard work and unselfish dedication!"
The parade was captured on the MPD drone as it entered the Holy Family Hospital campus.
"Many of the #healthcareheroes came outside to greet the parade," MPD said. "Some were waiving from the windows of the hospital.
According to the state DPH, as of April 14th Methuen had at least 273 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
