Mass. Coronavirus Death Toll Surpasses 1,800

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts has become a new hot spot for the coronavirus. The White House has said they are keeping an eye on the state and the Boston area amid rising concerns.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced Monday afternoon the state currently has 39,643 cases of COVID-19 with 1,566 new cases from the previous day.

The state's death toll is now at 1,809 with 103 new cases from the previous day. Of those deaths, 63 percent of those deaths are among individuals 80 years old or older.

So far, 169,398 people have been tested across the Commonwealth.
