BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Baker-Polito Administration is working to provide financial relief to student loan borrowers in Massachusetts amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a statement from the Massachusetts government website, "DOB has secured relief options with 15 private student loan servicers to expand on the protections the federal government granted to federal student loan borrowers."
This initiative aims to build off the federal CARES Act, and will give borrowers options such as waiving late payment fees, ceasing debt collection lawsuits for 90 days, and giving a minimum of 90 days of forbearance.
More details about relief options through private student loan services can be found in the consumer advisory.
