A teacher from Steinert High School lashed out at a group of teenagers who were playing football in a park in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. The teacher, who was identified as Nicole Griggs by the Trentonian, was walking her dog when she stopped in front of a chain-link fence and began to yell at the kids for violating the state's stay at home orders.
Griggs told the teens that the park was closed and warned them that they could be arrested if the police showed up. One of the students began filming the encounter and shared the video on Snapchat with his friends. Another student then posted the video on TikTok.
"Parks closed! The whole area," she yells. "Get it through your thick head! You are the reason we are in this situation. You are the problem, not the solution. Go ahead, keep recording. Who are you going to show it to? Post me on social media."
She continued to admonish the group and told them she hopes they contract COVID-19.
"You're the idiot doing the wrong thing. I'm just trying to save your ass and save your life. But die, OK. I hope both of you get the coronavirus. I hope you both die a long, painful death!"
The students were left stunned by Grigg's comments.
"When she said that, I was shocked," one of the students told the Trentonian. "I didn't know someone would say something like that, especially a teacher. She should be smarter with her words."
A few minutes after Griggs left, a police officer showed up and asked the group to leave. The student told the paper that he and his friends did not realize the park had been closed and said they will stay inside going forward.
