Red Sox Respond To Racism Torii Hunter Said He Experienced In Fenway

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Torii Hunter said he's always wanted to play for the Boston Red Sox, but racism he experienced while at Fenway Park has changed his mind.

Hunter said he's been called the 'n-word' 100 times by people in the grandstands.

The Red Sox organization released a statement that said his experience is true, and that players and Fenway staff have been subjected to racial slurs.

There were at least seven documented instances of racist comments last year.

Hunter said this is why his contract, and any contract he's ever had, includes a no-trade clause.

"I always wanted to play for them and it sucks," Hunter told Golic and Wingo on ESPN Radio.
