BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Former New England Patriot Benjamin Watson is leading a prayer vigil on the Boston Common on Sunday, to call for racial equality and justice after the killing of George Floyd.
Watson said the prayer vigil will take place between 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Parkman Bandstand on the Common.
All attendees are being asked to wear face coverings and stay six feet apart.
Last week during an interview on Fox News, Watson said he wanted to use prayer to help unify the community and call for peace and justice during a time of unrest.
"There's a passage in Jeremiah that talks about God being a God of kindness, of justice, and of righteousness," Watson told Fox News. "So my thought was to gather with other believers, other organizations in the Boston community, and have this event called Boston Prayer... where we will come together and see God's face and his wisdom as we continue to seek justice."
The Boston Common Prayer Vigil is one of several protests, marches, and demonstrations happening across the state on Sunday, almost three weeks after the in-custody killing of George Floyd.
