Oklahoma Father Arrested After Two Children Die In Hot Truck

Dustin Dennis, 31

An Oklahoma father has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder for allegedly leaving his two young children unattended in his truck for five hours. The Tulsa Police Department said Dustin Dennis, 31, took his children, ages 3 and 4, shopping with him on Saturday afternoon.

When Dennis returned home, he unloaded his groceries and took a nap. About five hours later, Dennis woke up and could not find his two kids. After searching his house, he found them in his truck.

He carried them inside and called 911. Dennis told investigators that he thought he took them out of the vehicle before he went inside. According to CNN, surveillance camera footage recorded by Dennis' neighbor showed him going inside while his two kids were still in the backseat.

The temperature climbed into the 90s on Saturday (June 13) afternoon.

Dennis is being held in the Tulsa County jail on a $750,000 bond.

"There is no way to express our grief or what my sister is going through," the children's aunt, Chantiel Keyes, wrote on GoFundMe. "No one is ever expecting to go through this.
