West Roxbury Sees Dueling Protests Near Police Substation

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dueling demonstrations were held outside a police substation in West Roxbury on Wednesday. Blue Lives Matter supporters and Black Lives Matter supporters both protested.

Blue Lives Matter protesters turned up to show support for law enforcement with blue flags and supportive signs.

"I just feel like they're getting a bum rap. I feel like there are some bad apples," Blue Lives Matter protester Lisa said.

Black Lives Matter demonstrators also came out.

"Although they may have had different intentions, what it comes off for the majority of folks who look like me is blatant disregard for all that we have been doing here," one Black Lives Matter demonstrator said.

The crowd of those attending the two rallies was divided physically. The Blue Lives Matter crowd was overwhelming white. The Black Lives Matter crowd was more diverse.
