BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Police Department is marking the 4th of July with a song from two of their most famous officers.
BPD said in 2018, Officers Kim Tavares and Stephen McNulty "took to the streets of Boston while belting out their now famous rendition of God Bless America."
However, for this year’s Independence Day, with the COVID-19 health emergency and social distancing in effect, plans to recreate the video were placed on hold.
Instead, BPD has re-released last year's rendition of "God Bless America" by Officers Tavares and McNulty, complete with iconic images of Boston in the background.
"We hope this video serves a reminder of the good times we have had and the better times we know the future will bring," said BPD.
