The 2020 ACM New Male Artist of the Year, Riley Green, has announced new music is on the way! The rising star unveiled his plan to release a new EP, If It Wasn't For Trucks, on September 11.
"I’ve been using my time off to do a lot of writing and although I can’t play shows for y'all face to face right now, I’m glad I can still share some new music with everyone," he wrote in an Instagram post alongside the EP cover art. "Get ready for the 'If It Wasn't For Trucks' EP by hitting the link in my bio. #countrymusic #ifitwasntfortrucks"
The new 5-track project will offer fans a glimpse at what's to come on his forthcoming full-length album, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2021. The new release follows Green's 2019 album, Different 'Round Here which featured hits like "I Wish Grandpas Never Died" and "There Was This Girl."
If It Wasn't For Trucks is due out on September 11.
News of Green's new EP comes less than a week after he was crowned ACM New Male Artist of the Year. On Thursday (August 20), ACM Awards host, Keith Urban surprised him with the news during a video conference.
"When we had to come off the road back in March, I wasn’t sure what the rest of 2020 would look like," Green said at the time. "So much has happened in the world since then and I’m really excited to have a moment to play music again. My grandfathers’ love for Country Music is what led me to this moment and I have to dedicate this award to them. Thank you to everyone who believes in my music enough to let this boy from Alabama get to share his songs like this."
Fellow rising talent, Tenille Townes was named ACM New Female Artist of the Year by Urban on the same day. Both of the New Artist winners will perform during the ACM Awards broadcast on Wednesday, September 16 starting at 8 PM ET on CBS.
