Framingham Non-Profit Gives Students Free Haircuts

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A non-profit organization in Framingham is helping children look sharp for the first day of class this year, whether in-person or online.

Courtney Thraen is the Executive Director of Downtown Framingham Inc., the non-profit that raised nearly 2,000 dollars to givegiving students free haircuts from kindergarten to high school.

"We have signups already going for tomorrow, which is September 1st, and then we're going to be working hopefully next Tuesday," Thraen said.

Nearly 100 students will receive free haircuts through the initiative.

The effort helps Black-owned businesses such as Twin's Barbershop. Owner George Reyes said he's happy to be involved.

"It's for a good cause, so it's never a waste of time when you're giving back," Reyes said.
