Mass DPH Confirms 340 New Cases Of COVID-19

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported another 340 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to 125,479.

The state DPH also reported an additional 15 deaths among confirmed cases, upping the Commonwealth's COVID-related death toll to 9,100. There have also been 210 deaths among probable cases of the virus.

Nearly 6,000 of those deaths were reported at long-term care facilities among patients with confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19.

There are currently 364 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Massachusetts, and two hospitals in the state using surge capacity.

According to the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, the U.S. has surpassed 6.7 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, and more than 200,000 Americans have died from the virus in around six months.
