Two Armed Men Arrested Near Philadelphia Vote Counting Center

Mail-In Ballot Counting Continues In Philadelphia

Authorities in Philadelphia arrested two armed individuals on Thursday (November 5) night after learning of a potential threat targeting the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where election officials have been working around the clock to count the remaining mail-in ballots.

The police received a tip that the individuals were driving a silver Hummer from Virginia and may have been planning to attack the convention center. Officers spotted the silver Hummer parked and unoccupied near the convention center. A few minutes later, officers patrolling the area on bicycles spotted two armed men and stopped them.

The men admitted the Hummer was theirs and told the officers they did not have a valid license to carry the weapons in Pennsylvania. They were detained and are facing firearms charges but have not been formally indicted. Officials also found another gun in the Hummer.

The two men have not been identified, and officials have not provided any details about the alleged threat.

According to WPVI, the Hummer had a window sticker with the logo of the conspiracy theory group QAnon, which has been labeled as a domestic terror threat by the FBI.

The FBI has joined the investigation and is working with local authorities.

"The FBI works closely with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to identify and stop any potential threats to public safety. It is vital that the FBI, our partners, and the public work together to protect our community. As always, we encourage members of the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. We have no further information for release and would refer you to the Philadelphia Police Department for any additional guidance at this time."

On Thursday night, a group of Trump supporters gathered outside the convention, demanding that officials "stop the vote."
