Chelsea Free COVID-Test Site Busy Ahead Of Christmas

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Usually on the Sunday before Christmas, people are busy last-minute shopping.

But it’s 2020, and that means hundreds of people were instead are lining up outside Chelsea City Hall to get COVID-tested.

Charles said he came with his partner Brittney all the way from Ayer to get tested, and for good reason.

"As far as I can tell, unless you want to pay for a test, this is the only place we can go," he said.

"I've got COVID-symptoms, and I'm a teacher," Brittney added.

The tests at Chelsea City Hall are free, and results are returned within one to three days. People were waiting in line Sunday for over two hours.

Kara told WBZ NewsRadio she planned ahead for her holidays.

"I'm traveling out of state," she said.
