BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – This semester, Bridgewater State University students are getting food from a delivery service that's a touch less human than usual.
Wheeled robots are delivering food around the campus instead of human workers to cut down on COVID transmission risk.
The small six-wheeled machines are designed and made by American robotics company Starship Technologies. They've already gained a positive following on the Bridgewater State campus.
"The student population tends to fall in love with them and it's almost like a second mascot," said Juan Canahui, an Area Operations Lead with Starship. Starship Technologies says the little robots have been making around 750 deliveries a week at Bridgewater State.
